Cause of Acne
These are the most mentioned causes of acne but according to Dr Monisha Kapoor, the most common cause of acne in the Indian population is the wrong products and increasing use of makeup among teenagers.
Most of the teenagers are not comfortable with their skin type that leads to anxiety and uses of a lot of makeup looking at the magazines they have started to apply layers and layers of makeup so this makeup blocks the teenage oil glands leading to acne.
A lot of our patients have been benefited just by simple skincare maneuver like a face wash and exfoliating scrub and oil control glands this is the most common cause of acne in the Indian population at the moment.
Other reasons may include:
- Increasing uses of cosmetic products
- Hormonal Changes
- Dirt
- Stress
- Heredity
- Pressure
- Drugs
Medical Treatment
at Dr. Monisha Kapoor
There are a lot of medicines that are labelled as anti-acne and acne is treated traditionally by the use of antibiotics and sebum regulating drugs but at Dr Monisha Kapoor Aesthetics, we treat acne in a very unconventional way, we find out the cause that is lead to acne in a particular patient and we believe in fixing the cause.
We take a detailed history of the client to find out the cause and if blood tests are required, which are required in the very few of individuals, we give them skincare to follow after doing their skin scan.
We do superficial cleansing by the form of HydraFacial and use skin science in the form of Broadband Light (BBL) that kills the “P” acne bacteria and calms down the sebaceous glands. Rarely we have given antibiotics to any of our clients and we watch and our clients are there watch for results.
Other treatments are available at Dr. Monisha Kapoor Aesthetics.
- Hydrafacial
- Broadband Light
- Retinols
- Antibiotics
- Laser Treatments
At our Centre, we treat acne with the fixing of the cause of acne first by taking a detailed medical history secondly, we do a face scan to know exactly what is happening in the skin and apart from controlling the internal factors that are causing acne we provide aggressive treatments for the skin by doing HydraFacial, BBL and by topical skin cuticles (Dr Zein Obagi Skin Health Protocol) or alternatives to suit our client’s budget.
After Care Do’s & Don’ts
The way Dr. Monisha Kapoor treats acne as it’s written it is an unconventional way according to her experience when the client is coming in for any of the topical skin treatment, they are supposed to avoid sunlight for at least a week after the treatment and apply sunscreen religiously in every 2 hours if they are outdoor to avoid any post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that is common in Indian skin types.
These cases are patients who were distressed by doing a lot of medical therapies internally and had a lot of side effects of retinol and antibiotics they were taking for a long period of time and they came to know through friends who were treated by Dr Monisha Kapoor for their acne and that is how they reached our centre to get anti-acne treatment, the way Dr Monisha Kapoor does, and you can see the result in a month or so, these are happy clients who were treated for their acne with Dr Monisha Kapoor’s own treatment protocols.
